The Challenge

As we have been living through this time of quarantine I am sure I am not the only one who has been bored out of their skull. One thing I am certain of is that I need to do something besides watching movies. Yet, my self challenge has come from the premise of a movie I watched, based off of a book, based off of a blog. Julie and Julia has inspired me to take on the challenge of cooking. I will say this, I am not a chef. I am not a cook. I can make food but most of the time I don’t want to clean up after I cook.

Throughout the course of this, I am not sure how I will feel throughout this. I am gathering recipes and some weeks will be themed, like Cinco de Mayo coming up next week. Other weeks will be just food that I want to make or I have been craving, like the coleslaw I have been having a craving for the last several weeks.

So, what does that mean? It means that my grocery budget will likely become larger than my eating out budget for the first time in a long time. With that being said, I will be doing mostly budget friendly meals as I know a lot of people my age have a tight food budget. They are trying to feed themselves and families on a small budget every week and it isn’t easy. I am just trying to feed my grandma and myself. I am also going to be using the extras for lunch and other meals through the week. I really don’t want buy ingredients that are one use but sometimes I have too especially if it will be used in the entire recipe.

Let’s see how this goes. Check back soon for the recipes that I’ve tried.
